Letter of Welcome

Students, Faculty, Staff, and Parents,

Welcome to the Panhellenic Association at Pepperdine University! My name is Emma Bjeldanes and it is an absolute honor to serve this wonderful community as Panhellenic President for 2021.

On behalf of Panhellenic, I invite you to explore our website and learn about everything the Panhellenic Association has to offer. The council consists of seven dynamic women from each of our chapters serving on the executive board and seven individual chapter delegates who are committed to improving the Panhellenic Community. Together, we create the governing body of Pepperdine's NPC chapters.

Our Association is proud to embody diversity and leadership by appealing to women of all religions, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are tied together as powerful, young women who are committed to taking our university experience to new heights and reaching our full potential. This year, the executive board and I are focused on collaboration within our community and with the University to strive for continuous academic excellence. Joining a chapter and becoming a Panhellenic woman is truly an enriching experience where young women are afforded opportunities for ethical and intellectual growth, while simultaneously developing valuable leadership skills and creating worthwhile relationships.

The Panhellenic Executive Board helps organize various events throughout the academic year such as philanthropic events, award ceremonies, relationship builders, and much more all centered on creating a positive environment in which students can thrive. We collaborate with others such as the Interfraternity Council, the National Pan-Hellenic Council, on-campus organizations, and the University.

Please continue to visit our website and check back with us! We will continually update our website with information about recruitment, upcoming events, and all Fraternity & Sorority Life news at Pepperdine. Please feel free to contact me with any Panhellenic office questions. Thank you for your interest and I look forward to hearing from you!

The National Panhellenic Conference

The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) is an organization composed of 26 women's Greek-letter fraternities (national and international in scope) established to assist collegiate and alumnae chapters and to foster interfraternal relationships. The conference gradually evolved from a meeting organized by Kappa Kappa Gamma in Boston in 1891. Eight groups met in Chicago in 1902 where they realized the need for uniform practices and standards and hence, NPC was "born." Since those early days, the conference has had several name changes and 18 additional women's fraternities have met the requirements for membership.

Each member group is equally represented by a delegate of 4 women. The conference formulates policies on matters of mutual interest and concern, studies the ever-changing educational outlooks and contributes to interfraternal understanding and friendship.

NPC helps women to continue to Grow- Give- Lead and Succeed

Statement on Extension

Pepperdine University currently is not open for Panhellenic Extension. When the topic becomes necessary to discuss, Pepperdine Panhellenic along with the University follows the NPC process for Extension. If you are interested in learning more about expansion opportunities for NPC organizations at Pepperdine, please direct all inquires and concerns to the Fraternity/Sorority Advisor, Allison Green (allison.green@pepperdine.edu).
